The mission of Calvary’s Special Needs Ministry is to nurture and enhance the Spiritual gifts of all God’s children with Special Needs so that each can grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ and become positive and significant members of Calvary and God’s family. This ministry will meet this mission through adaptation of programs and making of accommodations as necessary to ensure for a positive and nurturing experience for each child.

Every effort will be made to adapt the regular Sunday school programming at Calvary to the needs of every child; buddies will be paired with those children needing extra support during activities. However, for those children who would benefit the most, a self-contained classroom will be
offered during the 10:30 a.m. services.

During the 2009-2010 Ministry year, Calvary’s Special Needs Self-Contained Classroom will be using the Big Book of Bible Stories, a curriculum that is simple yet brings the Bible to life for children with special needs.  In addition we will be using Sand Stories to tell the stories which uses a multi-sensory approach; this will allow the children to see, hear, and touch the stories.
