Mission Overview
The Bible tells us in Ephesians, that every Christian has a purpose – to do the good works that God has prepared beforehand. Christianity is not just about helping you become a better person; Christ came into your life so you could also help make the world a better place.
Calvary’s Missions include:Â
Local Missions, Jubilee Missions and Mission Haiti.
Local Missions
We attempt to love others toward God through a holistic approach of
meeting spiritual and physical needs. Here are some of our local mission
opportunities:
- Briarwood Neighborhood: Activities are done throughout the year with our neighbors in this area to build community with them.
- Kristi’s House: We have two transitional homes on our property for homeless families.
- Families Victorious: Small groups that meet weekly, giving on-going support to families with addictions.
- Food Pantry: Food and prayer support are given to people in our community who are in need.
- KIDS HOPE: Calvary sends over 30 adult mentors weekly to Eagle Crest Charter Academy to meet with children who need extra care and support.
- Community Events: Over 500 backpacks and school supplies are given to children in our community, a Frozen Food Festival is held once a year which helps over 100 families, and various community service projects are done where our congregation goes out to bless others in our area.
Jubilee Missions
This is a radical commitment to free up growing resources and to follow Jesus into places of great poverty and oppression. Through Jubilee Missions, Calvary focuses on social action, economics, and justice. Our hope and prayer is that we can make a long term impact in these areas, with evangelism being a part of everything we do.
We encourage our congregation to serve on a short term trip and experience what God is doing in each of these areas:
- Quito, Ecuador – Building a medical facility
- Saltillo, Mexico – Working with an orphanage
- Queens, New York – Building a medical center
- Zambia, Africa – Supporting a cottage for orphans and their care giver
Mission Haiti
During the month of December, Calvary focuses on what Jesus would want for HIS birthday by taking a Christmas Collection to help with the extreme needs in Haiti.Â
Over the next several years, Calvary is committed to work in Haiti to help children in impoverished schools and in communities where some of the most neediest people in that country live. We are working with GLOW Ministries International, and throughout the year we offer trips to Haiti to learn about the culture, to see how God is working in this country, and to fall in love with Haiti and it’s people.
We also work with Christian Reformed World Relief (CRWRC), and support the work they do in ministry to the poor through community development and cooperatives in rural areas of Haiti.
