This Sunday will be VBS Sunday with a message to parents and families of the VBS kids.

Teachers' Summit in Haiti weblog The Teacher's Summit in Haiti weblog is the place to go for updates on the activities of the group arriving in Haiti on July 26 to participate in a teachers summit with the leaders of the Grande Goede School. We look forward to seeing what God will do during this week. We will continue to offer opportunities to serve on Jubilee Trips this year. Scholarship applications are available in the Church Office. Back to School party, August 13 -- helpers needed! The next big event at Calvary Church will take place on Wednesday, August 13, from 6 - 8 p.m. when we hold our annual "Back to School" party to help neighboring community kids get ready to go back to school. and we need your help! We need LOTS of backpacks -- 300 to be exact -- and the tools typically needed by children in the classroom, including markers, pens, pencils, crayons, and more. (Check your church mailbox for a complete list.) Donations are being accepted in the Collection Box in the lobby. If you know of a family that could use some help, contact Kim at 616.928.1332 or via email at koosterbaan@calvarycrc.org. If you would like to volunteer with passing out backpacks on August 13, contact Terry at 399.9179.

Ad de Blaeij on the road... On Wednesday, July 2, Ad de Blaeij and crew will dip their back tires in the Pacific Ocean before embarking on their ride from Seattle to Jersey City. Besides 104 American, and 111 Canadian bikers, there is one international biker -- Ad. The Sea-to-Sea tour is about raising awareness of poverty in this world, and to help raise funds to support CRC projects in different countries, including Haiti. Please, keep praying for this tour, especially about the safety of all these bikers on the road. Coby and Ad de Blaeij, located in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, have published their most recent newsletter which talks about their involvement with the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee in the fight against poverty. Their efforts include the Sea-to-Sea bike tour, and to help raise funds to support CRC projects in different countries, including Haiti. To catch up with news from the de Blaeij's, click here.
